Design Thinking in Lebanon

There are 1.5 million refugees living in Lebanon. Students of design akademie berlin visited Lebanon and developed ideas on how to improve the living conditions in the refugee camp.

Strategic Design in Lebanon

Can you imagine what it means to live in a country where 30% of the inhabitants are refugees? 1.5 million displaced Syrians live in camps in Lebanon, most of them below the poverty line. Twelve students, Prof. Beronneau, Prof. Androschin, Prof. Leihener and Frank-Alva Buecheler took on the challenge to develop ideas for improving their living conditions. In a collaborative project with Alba, the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts and the NGO URDA we created a community space for one of the camps, using the Strategic Design method of design thinking.

We would like to share with you what we have seen and experienced in Beirut and in the refugee camps. We will present our impressions at the audimax of the design akademie, Aufbau Haus am Moritzplatz, Prinzenstraße 84.1, 10969 Berlin on 9 October 2018, 3.00 – 4.00 pm. You are cordially invited!

Prof. Katrin Androschin and Prof. Julia Leihener and the students' core team. Join the event on Facebook to get updates:
