On this page, we have listed all information you need to apply successfully for one of the Bachelor or Master course at the design akademie berlin, SRH Hochschule für Kommunikation und Design (University for Communication and Design).

In the dropdown menu below, you will find a checklist with all the documents required to apply for one of our B.A. or M.A. programmes, plus tips for your portfolio or admission test. Please note: The English website lists only the English-taught Bachelor and Master programmes: B.A. Advertising, B.A. Photography and M.A. Strategic Design.

Please visit the German website or contact our team (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), if you are interested in any of our German-taught programmes: B.A. Marketingkommunikation, B.A. Kommunikationsdesign, B.A. Illustration, B.A. Film+Motion Design or B.A. Web Development. You need proof of your C1 German knowledge to enroll in the German-taught programmes (TesDaF or DSH II).

BA in Advertising (English)


Checklist for your application:

  • Proof of qualification to pursue general higher education (i.e. Abitur, A-levels, high school diploma) or proof of professional qualification/experience, in accordance with Section 11 of the Berlin Higher Education Act
  • Your CV
  • Proof of health insurance
  • A portfolio presenting 10 of your own works. This can be drawings, pictures, graphics, photos, etc.
  • Your completed admissions test (see below)
  • Please submit all documents as a .pdf, .zip or .doc.

 

Important note regarding the portfolio: The portfolio and your CV should provide an insight into your individual design and technical development. We deliberately avoid providing a specific theme. Please attach a written description explaining your work and methodology.

Next steps after submitting your application:

After receiving your application, we will review your application. If we think you are a good candidate for the programme, we will invite you for a personal admission interview. If you are unable to visit us our campus at Moritzplatz in Berlin, we are happy to make an appointment via Skype. If you are unable (or do not want to) upload your portfolio, please bring all documents to your admission interview.

  • Certified copy of your Bachelor’s degree and your Academic Transcript (We can also make a copy, if you present us with the original documents at the university.)
  • Your CV
  • Proof of health insurance
  • A portfolio presenting 15 to 20 of your own works.
  • Please provide all documents via Dropbox or WeTransfer.
